A younger and more tender-hearted Sister James wants to believe another story. Set in 1964 in the Bronx’s fictional St. Nicholas Church School, rumors swirl as the story takes on a number of fraught issues that continue to resonate today: race, sexuality, tradition versus modernity and gender in the Catholic church.
